Prof. Gregg Suaning – Biomedical engineering

Professor Gregg J. Suaning is Head of School of Biomedical Engineering with the University of Sydney. He has over three decades of experience in implantable neuroprosthesis research in both industry and academia helping the deaf to hear and the blind to see. He received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the California State University in 1986 and 1988 respectively. His Ph.D. in visual prosthesis from UNSW was awarded in 2003. He has been awarded with several international patents in the medical device field – primarily in sensory bionics. Gregg has authored over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and has played a leadership role in competitive research programs with funding in excess of $60M during his academic career. He leads the sydneyBIONICS laboratory – a state-of-the-art innovation laboratory at the University of Sydney.
